Body Recovered from Lake Texhoma

LAKE TEXOMA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Lake Patrol says the body of a 62-year-old Durant man who drowned in Lake Texoma has been recovered.

Troopers say the body of Forrest Wright was found about 7:30 a.m. Sunday after he had disappeared about 7 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers say a witness reported the Wright had jumped from a boat on the lake to swim — then went under water and never resurfaced.

The patrol says Wright was not wearing a flotation device and that his body was found in about 50 feet of water.

Boating Accident Takes Life

Officials  say a Jay, Oklahoma man was killed and three other people were hurt in a boating accident at Grand Lake.

The Grand River Dam Authority said the accident took the life of 39-year-old Monte Lee Price.

Four people were in the 20-foot boat when it hit a breakwater structure near the Arrowhead Yacht Club area on the Duck Creek arm of Grand Lake.

The three injured men were taken to hospitals.

Officials say none of the boaters were wearing life jackets devices.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Man Drowns in Lake

OKEMAH, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a man has drowned in Okemah Lake in eastern Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 41-year-old Okemah resident Paul Lombard was swimming in a designated area near the west shore when he attempted to swim across the cove around 6:30 p.m. Friday. About halfway there, he turned back but wasn't able to make it shore.

Troopers say Lombard called out for help but couldn't stay afloat.

A dive team using side scan radar recovered his body about 25 yards from the south shore in 18 feet of water.

Boy Found Unresponsive in Tulsa Pool Dies

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police say a 5-year-old boy who was found unresponsive at an apartment complex swimming pool has died.

Officers said Thursday the child was swimming with some other children in a pool at the Canyon Creek Apartments Wednesday night when the other children screamed for help after noticing he was under water and not moving.

Police say he was taken to St. John Medical Center in serious condition and died later that night.

An investigation is under way.
