TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A Tulsa man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading no contest in the death of his roommate. Michael Cypert entered his no-contest plea Tuesday to second-degree murder. He was initially charged with first-degree murder in the 2010 death of his roommate, 46-year-old Robert Nichols.
Police say Cypert poured vodka on Nichols, then set him on fire. Nichols died several days later at a Tulsa hospital.
Prosecutors dismissed a charge of first-degree arson against Cypert.
