The public is invited to two open meetings tonight and tomorrow about a new park on Riverside Drive.

The George Kaiser Family Foundation owns the land east of Riverside between 26th Place and 33rd Place. It’s been developing plans to turn the land into a multi-faceted urban green space.

“This will be a park with varied experiences,” said Josh Miller, Program Officer with GKFF who’s on the project team for the park, called A Gathering Place for Tulsa. “For example, me and my three-year-old daughter can have a totally separate experience than say a retired couple, or maybe someone coming home after work, that’s driving home after work and just wants to decompress.”

The meetings will be 6 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, at the TCC Center for Creativity, at 910 S. Boston.

The Foundation hopes to have many attend and provide input on the designs for the project thus far.

A final concept will be unveiled this fall, with construction to begin in early 2014.
