Arraignment Date Set for Sccused Tulsa Shooters

Tulsa County Jail

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — An arraignment is scheduled Oct. 22 for two men accused of gunning down three black people and wounding two more in April.

The arraignment date follows a ruling last week by a special judge who found there was sufficient evidence for Jake England and Alvin Watts to stand trial on first-degree murder counts.

Although arraignment initially was scheduled for Monday, the matter was postponed until the October date.

The men are accused of fatally shooting William Allen, Bobby Clark and Dannaer Fields as they walked near their homes on April 6. Two others who were shot survived.

England and Watts also face hate crimes charges. The shootings happened in a predominantly black section of Tulsa, and all five victims were black.
